About Darwen dentist: Bateman & Best Dental Practice

About Bateman & Best Dental Practice, Darwen

Two connected stone buildings with signs reading

Darwen dentist, Bateman and Best was founded in 1979 at the existing premises on the A666. Founding dentists Mrs.Bateman and Mr.Best built this practice with their hard work and dedication. From a 2 surgery practice we are now working with 8 surgeries. This family run Dental Practice is the place you need to be.

The practice has been a member of the British Dental Association’s (BDA) Good Practice Scheme for 15 years now.  To achieve the award we have to submit evidence to show that we continually meet requirements, which is assessed each year by the BDA.

In 2011 we achieved our Silver Plaque for continuous membership to the scheme, and in July 2014 we became one of the few practices around the UK that has achieved the prestigious Gold Award. This award was accredited to us to celebrate our 10th consecutive year of BDA Good Practice achievement. The nearest practice in Lancashire to also have this award is 17 miles away!!!!  Click on the link to find out more information on being a member of the scheme.goldaward

The practice is heavily involved with education and training. The Principal – Dr Michael Best,  Dr Catherine Armstrong and Dr Matthew Goodall are Educational Supervisors for Foundation Dental Practitioners (dentists in their first year after graduation).

The practice makes a conscious commitment to grow as a ‘training’ practice and be responsible to the needs of the patients within the NHS Framework.

The practice has an extensive list of practice policies and procedures that are operational throughout the work place, these include:

  • Health and Safety (including risk assessments)
  • Infection/decontamination control
  • Complaints Procedure
  • Information Governance (Confidentiality)

If you would like anymore information on our policies please speak to the Practice Manager – Mrs Rachel Wilkinson.
