Making Appointments - Bateman & Best Dental Practice, Darwen

Making Appointments

If you wish to make an appointment please speak to our reception staff on 01254 773512. We always try to offer you a reasonable choice of appointments. If you have made an appointment, which you subsequently find you cannot keep, please give us as much notice as possible (at least 24hrs), so we can give the appointment to another patient who may need to see us in an emergency.

You may be aware of the shortage of NHS dentists in this area, because of this, our appointment times are valuable and we operate a ‘Failed to Attend Policy’. If Patients continually fail or cancel at short notice, we may not be able to see them again as regular patients at the practice.

We are aware that sometimes appointments are missed due to unforeseen circumstances. However, if you miss or cancel without 24 hours notice on 2 occasions without a valid reason within a rolling 12 month period may not be able to be seen as a regular patient.

Reminders for Appointments

We send out reminder letters to patients when they are due a check-up and ask that they contact the practice to make a suitable appointment for themselves, we do not send out reminders once you have made an appointment by letter, it is up to you to remember the appointment. If you want to receive reminders for treatment appointments you need to sign up for the text messaging service we have (see below)

We also operate a text messaging service for patients who wish to receive their reminders via their mobile phone instead of a letter, this service also reminds you about any forthcoming appointment that you have made.. (On occasions texts messages do fail for reasons beyond our control, so we would highly advice you make a note of all your appointments when booking).

This service has been very popular and if you would like to take advantage of this free service just speak to a member of our team and we will activate it your records so you can start receiving text reminders for your appointments. You just need to keep us informed if you change your mobile number so you will carry on getting reminders.
